John's blog

My goal is to share some useful information that I have acquired over my 13 plus years of practicing massage therapy or maybe something that I just picked up in my lifetime that is useful. These are some of the best and helpful things I can think of.

Pain in the Foot

Ever had a hard time getting out of bed because the bottom of your feet hurt so bad it made you walk awkwardly for an hour or so before things calm down? The rest of the day went fine but once you jumped out of bed the next morning it was the same painful event again. You might have what is called plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is an irritation and swelling of the thick tissue on the bottom of the foot.

Rubbing out a cold

"If I have a cold should I keep my massage appointment?" is a question that I hear often. The answer is yes and no. In the beginning when the body is mounting its defense again the bad bacteria, massage can make things worse. If circulatory massage is applied (i.e. Swedish, Deep tissue, Lymphatic Drainage...) it can speed up and push those bad bacteria every where before your body has had time to mount its defense against them.

Have a migraine...drink coffee, get a pedicure, and find a therapist.

If you have ever had a migraine then I need not say more and if you have no idea what a migraine is...be thankful. Migraines can come on for a couple of reasons but knowing a little about what happens during a migraine can be very helpful.
